How we test

A white glove test is how a supervisor checks a clean: run a finger along the top of the door frame and see what comes off. We do the same with software, for 14 days.

The test company

Every app gets the same made-up business: Sparkle Test Co., a residential and light commercial cleaning company. Using one company for every test means the results are fair to compare. It has recurring clients, one-off deep cleans, move-out jobs, a small crew and a couple of office contracts.

The four steps

  1. Sign up like you would. We start the free trial from the public website. No vendor demo, no special access, no help we wouldn’t get as a regular customer.
  2. Set up Sparkle Test Co.. We build the same made-up cleaning company in every app: clients, service types, a small crew and a recurring schedule.
  3. Run it for 14 days. We quote, book, reschedule, invoice and take test payments, on a computer and on a phone, and take notes every day.
  4. Write it up with proof. Screenshots, prices copied from the official pricing page with the date we checked, and a list of what we couldn’t test.

What we check in every app

  • Setup: how long it takes to go from sign-up to booking the first job.
  • Scheduling: recurring cleans, rescheduling, and assigning jobs to cleaners.
  • Quotes: building one, sending it, and getting it approved online.
  • Invoices and payments: invoicing after a job and taking a test card payment where the trial allows it.
  • Team: checklists, clock-in, and what a cleaner sees on their phone.
  • Client communication: reminders, "on my way" texts and the client portal.
  • Support: we ask the same questions to support and note how and when they answer.
  • Price: copied from the official pricing page, with the date we checked it.

Our rules

  • We never publish a result we didn't see ourselves.
  • We never invent prices, scores, testimonials or user numbers.
  • If we couldn't test something (payroll, for example), we say so in the review.
  • Companies can't pay for a review, a better score or a spot on a list.
  • We update reviews when an app changes in a way that matters, and show the date.

Scores

A score out of 10 is given only after the full 14-day test. It reflects how well the app handled a cleaning company's real work, not how long its feature list is.
